Swimming with Manatees in Crystal River, Florida (an incredible experience)

If swimming with manatees isn’t on your bucket list, it should be. Getting up close and personal with these gentle giants is said by many frequent travellers to have been a highlight of their experiences.

Crystal River is home to hundreds of manatees. Yes, a small town on Florida’s western coast houses springs that are warm all year long, allowing manatees to escape the cold waters of the Mexican Gulf during the wintertime. That means that hundreds of manatees come flocking in to live in warm waters and people are easily able to go see them!

Savannah, GA: the Charming Belle of the South – Things to Do & Travel Guide

I’ve driven through Savannah a few times and even though my experience was really weird (woman walking a cat on the highway while wearing heels weird), I was eager to go back and really get to know the city. Considering my initial experience, I found that there was a lot I didn’t know about Savannah and it’s a really great place to visit!

Savannah, Georgia

Savannah’s History

Savannah as we know it was founded in 1733 by General James Oglethorpe (a name still huge there today). Its location was chosen as a buffer between the English colonies up north and the Spanish … Continue reading

Visiting Fife’s Ruined Castles and Fishing Villages

Fife is often recommended as a place to visit in Scotland, so for my second trip, I thought it much appropriate to check out what is said to be one of Scotland’s most beautiful gems. Though the peninsula is known historically for its coal and industry, the tourist perspective is its picturesque fishing villages with scattered ruins. After a visit to Stirling, we got a long evening to drive around the fantastic Kingdom of Fife.

St. Andrews Cathedral, Fife

Fife has been a part of Scotland for over a millennium. Fife had thanes, which were like earl equivalents, and obviously a strong regional … Continue reading

A Local’s Travel Guide to Baltimore, MD (Things to Do & More)

Baltimore, MD

Baltimore is Maryland’s largest city and it’s filled with history and fame. A lot of people confuse it for being the capital of Maryland, which it isn’t, but it’s nonetheless a great place to spend a day or two for travellers and an awesome day trip from DC. Every building is so beautifully crafted and the entire city sits on its original streets, making it feel as it must have been a century or two ago. Add in delicious food and a passion for the sports teams and it’s a very cultured place. I love this place so much that … Continue reading

There are so many beautiful cities and towns in France that it’s hard to keep track of them all. I lived in France for 5 months and it’s undoubtedly the country I know the best besides my own. That being said, there’s still a lot I’d like to see and do in France, so this list is nowhere near complete. However, I’ve compiled a list of beautiful small cities and towns in France that are absolutely worth visiting on your trip to France.

Blown Away by Beautiful Chicago – Things to Do & Travel Guide

Chicago, Windy City, Chi-Town. Undoubtedly Chicago is one of the most landmark cities in America. Known for sports and hot dogs, you can’t possibly take a modern architecture class without learning about Chicago and its impact on architecture: the skyscraper. If you’ve taken an art class, you’ve probably also heard of the Art Institute of Chicago, which has notable artworks. That is basically all I knew about Chi-Town when I set off for my social distancing trip. I did a lot of research on things to do and areas to visit, but there was no real expectation when I went. … Continue reading

Things to Do & See in Annapolis, MD: a Local’s Travel Guide (Updated 2024)

Annapolis is the capitol city of my home state, Maryland, and its old town location on the Chesapeake bay is incredibly charming. I got to spend a lot more time here after graduating from college and moving on from DC, so what as a local do I consider the highlights of “naptown”?

The Breathtaking City of Seville – Things to Do & Travel Guide

Barcelona is the most popular tourist destination in Spain, but for my first trip to the Iberian country, I opted to visit Seville. Photos got me excited about the wonderful art and history of Andalusia and its primary city. I have to say that I heard some negative things about Spain but they were all wrong. I had an amazing time in Seville!

Seville, Spain

The History of Seville

Like many Spanish cities, Seville started out as a Roman one – called Italica. The area has more ancient origins but a lot of Seville’s celebrated history comes from the Roman era onward. … Continue reading

A Lifelong Local’s Washington, DC Travel Guide (Updated 2024)

Even though I love travelling, I’ve lived in the Washington, DC area my entire life. It’s changed so much over the past few years but one thing remains the same: there’s a tonne to see and do in the nation’s capital. To help you plan your trip, here’s all the advice I have on visiting Washington, DC.

A Lifelong Local's Washington, DC Travel Guide

Driving Around the Scottish Highlands: an Experience

I’ve been to the Scottish highlands twice. The first time was that, a first-time visit. The second time, I brought my family so they could experience once of my favourite places in the world. The highlands are so big and I have much to explore still, but this is my experience with this magical place.

One of my favourite areas is the Trossachs National Park. This is where Loch Lomond, Scotland’s largest loch by surface area, is located. The park is filled with high hills reflecting in the low lakes. It’s extremely picturesque and the nature is so … Continue reading
